Allegis Group Case Study

Article Background

THE CLIENT

Allegis Group is a global talent solution company and is headquartered over in the U.S. They have 25 offices around Europe including in Czech, Hungary, France and Belgium and have two UK offices; one in London and one in Bracknell, Berkshire. They have a £11.2bn turnover and over 15,000 employees.

THE CHALLENGE

After having an initial conversation with the Regional Tax Manager at Allegis, Dawn Ayres, it was clear that they needed some support with recruitment. They needed a Corporate Tax Accountant to join their team in Bracknell, this was a newly created role and the business had a real need for it. Unfortunately, it had been an open vacancy for some time and although they had interviewed a couple of people, they were not quite hitting the mark in terms of experience and the location of the position made tricky for them to find anyone. Given it had been open for a few months they decided to put the role on hold until January.

THE SOLUTION

After speaking with Dawn, I arranged to go to Bracknell and visit the offices at Allegis and discuss exactly what was needed from this role and the type of person they’d see fitting into it. We took the time to understand some background about Allegis and current affairs of the company, before moving on to understand exact responsibilities of the position as well as what an ideal person would look like including both professional and personal attributes. Visiting Allegis gave a really clear view of the working environment as well as the role, with this information I was ready to go back to the market and find the best possible fit. This was the ideal role for a newly qualified tax professional who was perhaps looking to make their first move in-house or would be keen to join a large global business. As mentioned previously, due to the location the number of candidates were sparse, therefore various approaches were needed to source the correct person.

THE RESULT

A shortlist was created, and two CV’s were sent across to Dawn to review. After interviews were held for both candidates, one who particularly impressed was invited back for a second stage. The skill set that they had was very relevant to the role as well as their personality being a great cultural fit for the team. From understanding the candidate’s key motivators for looking at a new role, it was clear that this would be a great option for them, with it being a broader role and closer to home. Due to this when it came to offer stage, the process was made easy for both the candidate and client, ending in an acceptance and the desired outcome for both parties. “Marianne recently provided me with support on recruitment services. I found dealing with her incredibly professional, informative and pro-active. Her ‘can do’ attitude was a breath of fresh air in the current recruitment landscape.” – Dawn Ayre, Regional Tax Manager at Allegis Group
