THE CLIENT
Founded in 1766, Christie’s is a British auction with its main premises split between London and New York. In recent years they have branched out to the Middle East and Asia.
THE CHALLENGE
The Head of Tax is fairly new to the business having been with the business for nearly 2 years and in that time, there has been a real focus on growing the tax team. Last year a Senior Tax Analyst was added to the team and this year a newly created EMEA Tax Manager was necessary. This role would have dual responsibility for EMEA direct taxes and transfer pricing.
OUR SOLUTION
With recruitment taking place initially just after the Christmas period and with an original spec of candidates with more of a transfer pricing focus as opposed to the dual skillset, recruitment was slow at first. After a re-imagining of the job spec which fitted more in line with the skill set required, it became easier to understand the needs of the client and therefore have suitable candidates with interviews arranged. With a historic brand and growing team in an exciting direction in addition to new offices, it provided an interesting prospect to candidates.
THE RESULT
Once the role had been on hold for a few weeks and re-imagined, a shortlist of candidates was provided fitting the needs of the role. Two candidates were taken through to final interview with one of those being deemed a great fit. The candidate offered had recently finished a contract role and was keen to get back in permanent employment, so they were able to start within two weeks of being offered.
