THE CLIENT
Thermo Fisher Scientific is a multinational biotechnology product development company created by a merger of Thermo Electron and Fisher Scientific. They are one of the leading companies in the genetic testing and precision laboratory equipment markets.
THE CHALLENGE
As UK Tax Director, Georgie Green oversees all UK tax issues for Thermo Fisher Scientific with her small in-house team. Due to ever increasing success and growth, Georgie required an International Tax Analyst to oversee the increasing volume of corporate tax compliance. Georgie put me in touch with the Talent Acquisition team who informed me that, due to Thermo Fisher’s location, they had been finding it difficult to source candidates with relevant experience in the local area. As a new client, Pro-Tax agreed terms with Thermo Fisher before assisting the Talent Acquisition team on the role.
OUR SOLUTION
A call was arranged with Georgie Green in order to achieve the best possible understanding of the role, the requirements Georgie had in her team and to gain familiarity of Thermo Fisher Scientific as a business. Prior to this in-depth conversation, we had already highlighted 2 candidates however it became apparent that they would have been too senior for this position. In light of new information, a recently registered candidate had the desired skill set and background this role required and an interview was arranged in a timely fashion.
THE RESULT
The two candidates Pro-Tax originally sourced for the position were kept to one side as we decided it was best to send the candidate with the most relevant experience. The two-stage interview process, first telephone interview and second face-to-face interview, was managed cohesively between the Talent Acquisition team and Pro-Tax. After the face-to-face interview Thermo Fisher Scientific were impressed with the candidate and offered them the position meaning the assignment from start to finish was complete after two weeks.
FOLLOW UP
After following up regularly with both candidate and client after the placement had been made, Thermo Fisher were very happy with the work Pro-Tax had done. So much so that when they recruited again for their tax team 6 months later they reached out to Pro-Tax to use their services once again.
