I recruit tax professionals for the Top 100 and other boutique accountancy firms across all levels and tax disciplines. My area of specialism is regional recruitment and look after all appointments outside of London. 

My network consists of Tax Partners across the UK who call upon me to provide them with an insight of what my network of tax candidates are doing in various locations. I pride myself on offering my network the best service in the market. 

Having worked at Pro-Tax since 2014, I have always worked in the same area. I have developed an in-depth knowledge into the regional tax recruitment market. To the extent that my geography has improved greatly, I only wish Virgin trains did air miles!! 

Outside of work, I’m an avid runner, completing my first ‘tough mudder’ challenge in 2014. I am also a baking novice, possibly due to my extreme sweet tooth. If I was not in recruitment, I'd be an Astronaut, taking the wanderlust in me to another level!

December 2017: Market Update

December 2017…where has the year gone! As we enter the final stretch before the Christmas break, we take a look at the trends for December as well as a round-up for the year. As expected, the demand for staff continues to be apparent but we are facing the same old problems. Not enough candidates are looking to explore potential opportunities. Can we blame them? Especially given the current uncertainties from Brexit and surrounding issues. In line with the above, we could expect this to continue pushing up starting salaries and make the market even more competitive as the demand for staff and skill shortages rise. Kevin Green, REC Chief Executive confirmed: “Some hirers are responding by raising starting salaries in an attempt to attract scarce talent, there’s no evidence yet this is leading to pay increases for the wider workforce and those who fail to hire will find themselves in dire straits” As busy season is nearly upon us, we have seen a sudden surge of temporary workers as accountancy practices prepare themselves to be “all-hands-on-deck”. In summary, here at Pro-Tax, we have had a busy year with record billings achieved. Placements appear to Personal Tax and Private Client driven, making up over 30%. Corporate Tax came in at around 20%, whilst Mixed Tax was at the 15% mark. VAT and other specialist areas (employment, business development, M&A to name a few) made up the remainder. It will certainly be interesting to see how the market reacts moving into the new year.
