Deckers Brands Case Study

THE CLIENT

Deckers Brands are a US footwear designer and distributor founded in the 1970’s. Their brands include Teva, Sanuk and, probably the most well-known, UGG.

THE CHALLENGE

Deckers are a returning client to Pro-Tax having placed in the tax team a few years before with an EMEA Tax Manager. This role would be reporting to the Indirect Taxes Director as a replacement for the previous incumbent. The ideal candidate would have a similar background to that person in that they would be part-qualified and eager to learn within a fast-paced environment.

OUR SOLUTION

Having met with the business at their offices it was beneficial to get a feel for the culture and working environment this candidate will be joining. It was also beneficial to gain the understanding that this role would best suit a part-qualified candidate who was eager to finish their studies with the support provided with the business and someone interested in working within a fast-paced, US-listed corporate environment.

THE RESULT

After an initial shortlist was drawn and that was whittled down to a few CV’s sent, there was one candidate that stood out head and shoulders above the rest due to their personality and technical skillset. Their ideal role was to provide an increased breadth to their UK VAT role and this EU VAT focused role was able to provide that, enabling a seamless transition from offer stage to acceptance.
