We are experiencing a huge rush into the top 30 and top 20 - mostly candidates either making the jump up from the lower tiers but mainly, candidates leaving the Big 4/ top 6. Are you one of those candidates? If so, you might like to know why -
Firms within this bracket are going big growth spurts, some of them are still more mobile and less rigid than say a top 6 firm would be - you can gain Corporate Finance exposure, bigger bonuses/ packages, you can progress on the move, you find more flexibility for the same level of work and things just feel a little easier (is the genuine feedback we are receiving).
I have helped numerous others move at this level in recent times, I can pick them out to you and talk you through their experience and why they left the firms they left.
A lot of bigger ticket work is being won buy those firms and left by the Big 4/ top 6 who are more focused on consolidating their own portfolios (and avoiding unsavoury commentary in the press)
Candidates at the Big 4/ top 6 have been met with progression blockers, salary holders, less movement on mobility (very rare to see an Audit Senior Manager getting exposure to an IPO or something juicy in CF) and they are being underpaid in most parts.
Ultimately, you can progress from Manager to SM on this move, or from SM to a Director potentially - and with a firm (if moving down) that can actually give you a very short run to Partner given the value you bring with you.
