In-House Tax Advisor (Manager), In-House Financial Services

£70,000 - £75,000 + bonuses & benefits

City of London - remote working encouraged

A disruptive and growing financial services business is facing increased demand and looking to build the in-house tax team accordingly. Following some high-profile corporate projects, the Tax Director is looking to add resource across a number of areas.

The In-House Tax Advisor position is purposed to handle corporate tax accounting requirements of the group; though given this is a growing tax team, responsibilities are anticipated as both broad and evolving in line with compliance and advisory demands. Key aspects will initially include:

  • Preparation and oversight of UK corporate tax returns, including managing group relief arrangements and payments
  • Preparation and oversight of tax disclosures for routine statutory accounts
  • Supporting the Tax Director and wider team members on a variety of ad-hoc compliance and advisory tasks, likely related to tax reporting, employment and international taxes
  • Proactive management of operational taxes and tax risk; contributing to tax governance/controls processes and policies

Other than the Tax Director and immediate colleagues, key stakeholders include the CFO/finance team, external advisors and local tax authorities.

This opportunity is likely to best suit a recently qualified tax professional who is interested to progress their corporate tax career in-house, in the capacity of a generalist tax business partner.

The successful candidate:

  • ACA/CTA qualification is essential
  • Likely apt with spreadsheets/tax accounting software such as Alphatax
  • Open to in-house or professional practice backgrounds; must have held a UK corporate tax focused position previously with some experience of compliance, reporting and advisory
  • Any wider exposure (e.g., employment, international taxes) is considered advantageous
  • Must be of a team-player orientation who is able to communicate with senior-level stakeholders, pushing back where necessary
  • Must have the right to work in the UK permanently, without sponsorship requirements
