Inspections Leader - Challenger Firms
London/Home working

  • Are you a fully qualified CCAB Accountant (or equivalent), with significant experience at a senior level in the audits of major local audits; together with experience of audit inspections?
  • Do you have a good understanding of the challenges faced by smaller firms operating in the PIE market?
  • Do you have strong technical auditing and accounting skills?

The role -

  • To lead and manage audit inspection work at the challenger firms (i.e., outside the major seven)
  • Make sound decisions about the significance of issues arising from inspections
  • Work with firms to improve audit quality through the inspection process
  • To manage the organisations relationship with the audit firms at a senior level on a day-to-day basis
  • To work closely with the firms to deliver the organisations model of audit firm supervision
  • To participate in other projects such as Third Country Audits and IFIAR working groups
  • This role will include travel as required to audit firms.

Essential Experience

  • Qualified Accountant.
  • Significant experience at a senior level in the audits of major local audits or other entities, together with experience of audit inspections
  • Strong technical auditing and accounting skills.
  • Strong report writing skills, including drafting of reports for publication.
  • Good understanding of the particular challenges faced by smaller firms operating in the PIE market
  • Ability to challenge the judgements and quality of work performed by engagement partners at the audit firms and to deal with difficult situations, often in meetings where the AQR team is in the minority.
  • Effective project and time management skills to organise the overall local audit inspection programme and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Ability to challenge senior partners in the major firms regarding the firm's processes and to present and debate issues arising in a sensitive manner.
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships in a challenging and potentially confrontational and hostile environment.
  • Ability to persuade senior personnel to accept and act on points raised.
