Senior HR Business Partner

London

£400 per day (Inside IR35)

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning
  • Working with colleagues in Finance, support business leads in developing the people plan for their area to support effective and sustainable organisation with the capability and capacity to deliver the agreed business outcomes
  • Set the HR plan for delivery of UK People Strategy and people plans for each business area to support the delivery of the business strategies and corporate plan

  • Consultancy, analysis and problem solving
  • Consult with, coach and provide specific advice and guidance to business teams in all people matters to:
  • Support organisation change and ensure that the people dimensions are well planned, aligned with the policies and values of the organisation and implemented effectively
  • Develop talent and succession plans for each business population at SMP level as required and ensure that line managers are equipped to manage, monitor and reward performance effectively
  • Manage areas of dispute and handle any complex, escalated casework matters, liaising with Centre of Expertise Teams where necessary
  • Provide insightful analysis, assurance and management reporting in each business area to inform day to day management priorities and to underpin future strategy development around people, change and organisation

  • Internal customer focus
  • Personally lead on people matters throughout the employee life cycle for the SMP population within each business area, from talent acquisition to exit.

  • Relationship and stakeholder management
  • As a member of business area management teams, contribute to a shared understanding of the organisations people strategy and business area people plans and to a commit to and practice of strong people management across the business area
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of the work of own business areas, staff within each business area (specifically management teams) and the market for similar roles externally

  • Leadership and management
  • Ensure all HR activities across business areas are underpinned by the organisations values and promote equal opportunities and diversity within the organisation.
  • Manage HR Business Partner/s to provide professional partnering with business areas
  • Support development of others within the HR function by coaching and mentoring HR colleagues in areas of own experience and expertise

  • Risk and compliance
  • Support management to ensure capacity to deliver by regularly reviewing planned and future vacancies and ensuring plans are in place to fill these in timely way
  • Ensure compliance with establishment headcount targets by exercising approval authority for requests to recruit (Vacancy Approval Forms) and changes to job or personal information requested through MyHR for business areas

  • Service delivery
  • Lead on job evaluation of all SMB roles in business areas, ensuring consistency and accuracy in assessment of roles across business areas
  • Plan and manage communications for the annual performance management cycle
  • Complete Position Management and HR Admin Request Forms for all changes not made through recruitment, in support of own consultancy, advice and casework

  • Service improvement
  • Encourages continuous improvement in HR team practice and approach, ensuring these are in line with the British Council values and promote equal opportunities and diversity within the organisation.

To be considered for this role:

  1. You will be CIPD qualified (or evq)
  2. You will have a rack record of successful business partnering within a large, complex organisation
  3. Experience of planning and delivering organisational design and people change
  4. Experience of managing people
  5. Experience of change including restructures and redundancy consultations
