Nestle Case Study

THE CLIENT

We all know Nestle as owner of many household names usually located in our kitchens! They are the Swiss multinational food and drink processing conglomerate corporation and in fact the largest food company in the world. Although of course having offices globally, Nestle’s UK home is based in Gatwick.

THE CHALLENGE

Wendy Wagler has been at Nestle since the start of 2016 and is the Head of Tax and Treasury for the business. She had been in search of an Indirect Tax Manager to join their team to plan in advance for another team member, in Indirect Tax, considering retirement or part time hours. After having used their internal resources and more generalist finance agencies, they decided they would like to appoint a specialist tax recruiter and therefore responded to my correspondence offering support.

OUR SOLUTION

As I rule of thumb, I meet everyone I work with and so I met with Wendy over at the Nestle headquarters in Gatwick. Not only did this help my understanding of the role, but seeing the working environment really helped to portray a full picture of working life at the business and what kind of person would fit into company culture.

After taking a full brief from Wendy and discussing the general market patterns I am seeing to set expectations, I was able to start the search right away. A shortlist of 3 very select CVs were sent to be reviewed after which 2 were called in for a face to face interview. All candidates were had strong Indirect Tax knowledge from different backgrounds, creating a good opportunity for comparison.

THE RESULT

After a 2nd stage interview with the preferred candidate, Nestle were able to make an offer to this person and had excellent feedback to give alongside it. Our candidate was very pleased, and we were able to guide them through the process of providing references and arranging a start date. Subsequently my candidate joined the business just over two months after I was initially instructed to work on the role.

It was a pleasure to work with Nestle and they have since advised they would be keen to use my services again on further tax vacancies.
