THE CLIENT

Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital is the largest centre for child heart surgery in the UK and one of the largest centres for heart transplantation in the world.

THE CHALLENGE

Having worked closely with GOSHCC in hiring a Senior Fundraising Executive, I was contacted to have a conversation about another vacancy within the Great Ormond Street fundraising team. Due to an internal move, there was a need for a new Challenge Events Fundraiser to enter the team and take responsibility for third-party events. In addition, with the internal move this role had changed shape slightly, and now had 1 direct report. Having discussed the role in further detail with the Senior Challenge Events Manager, it became clear that this was quite a varied role, with the candidate needing a strong understanding of marketing principles.

OUR SOLUTION

I was well connected with events professionals having worked a similar role for another children’s charity and I began to reach out to many of these individuals. The location was slightly different, as was the need for marketing experience with this role, so I had to diversify my search to bring in the necessary pool of candidates. My initial shortlisting process involved meeting potential individuals who I felt were qualified on paper for the position. After meeting them I was able to decide which individuals would match up with the culture of the organisation. I sent over several strong individuals for consideration and they were invited to interview.

THE RESULT

The interview process was two stages, and I maintained a constant dialogue with both candidate and client to ensure that the process ran smoothly. The candidate performed exceptionally in the interview and was able to demonstrate their broad skills in events and marketing. They were offered the position and were delighted to accept.

FOLLOW UP

GOSHCC were impressed with how Pro-Marketing were able to deal with the requirements for this hire and were happy to place us onto the PSL for their recruitment. I have since worked on several other roles with GOSHCC.
