Corporate Tax Senior Manager - Lead Strategic Client Advisory
Location: Southampton
This Private Tax team supports a diverse portfolio of entrepreneurial businesses, including owner-managed and family-owned enterprises, PE-backed companies, and AIM-listed groups. They build long-term relationships and deliver tailored tax advice that supports our clients' growth and strategic objectives.
The Opportunity - Lead with Impact in a Client-Centric Role
We're looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager to join this growing Private Tax team in Southampton. This is a key leadership role offering significant opportunity to engage directly with clients, lead complex advisory work, and shape the future of the team.
You'll work closely with business owners, CFOs, and investors to provide strategic tax insight on matters such as corporate reorganisations, transactions, shareholder planning, and operational tax challenges. As a Senior Manager, you'll have the autonomy to lead engagements, grow client relationships, and contribute meaningfully to their broader growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Relationship Management

Act as a trusted adviser to a portfolio of private and entrepreneurial businesses

Provide expert advice on corporate tax issues, including restructuring, transactions, international expansion, and succession planning

Build and maintain senior-level relationships with clients, acting as their go-to tax contact

Identify client needs and proactively offer solutions that deliver real business value
Engagement & Project Leadership

Take ownership of end-to-end delivery of complex tax advisory projects

Coordinate with internal specialists and external stakeholders (e.g., legal, corporate finance) to deliver cohesive solutions

Ensure work is delivered to the highest technical standards with a clear commercial focus

Review technical output from team members, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and relevance
Business Development & Practice Growth

Support partners in developing new business and expanding existing relationships

Lead pitches and proposals for advisory work, demonstrating technical credibility and commercial insight

Identify opportunities to cross-sell wider EY services where relevant
Team Leadership & Development

Supervise, mentor, and support the development of junior staff and managers

Contribute to team culture and internal initiatives, including training and talent development

Foster a collaborative and inclusive working environment
What We're Looking For

Strong track record of delivering high-quality corporate tax advice to entrepreneurial or mid-market clients

ACA / CTA (or equivalent) qualification with significant post-qualification experience

Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders

Commercially minded with a strong sense of initiative and leadership
