As part of their ongoing growth, we are recruiting an experienced Indirect Tax Technology Specialist to join their Birmingham-based finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile projects within a forward-thinking, globally recognised business.

About the Role

In this key role, you will support the development, implementation, and optimisation of indirect tax technology systems, ensuring robust compliance and automation across international operations. You'll work closely with Finance, Tax, and IT teams to drive continuous improvements, enhance system capabilities, and support major digital tax transformation initiatives.

This position offers exposure to a variety of cutting-edge tax technologies, ERP integrations, and automation tools, all within a highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technology Implementation & Maintenance

    • Support the deployment and maintenance of indirect tax engines and compliance systems

    • Lead integrations with ERP systems (particularly Oracle R12) and support ongoing system enhancements

    • Troubleshoot tax-related system issues and coordinate solutions across departments

  • Automation and Process Improvement

    • Build and optimise tax workflows using tools such as Alteryx and Power BI

    • Drive initiatives to improve tax reporting efficiency, accuracy, and data visibility

    • Identify and implement automation opportunities within indirect tax processes

  • Testing & Systems Development

    • Create and manage robust testing scenarios for system implementations and updates

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose tax technology solutions

    • Support real-time reporting, SAF-T requirements, and e-invoicing solutions

  • Training and Stakeholder Engagement

    • Provide training and documentation to finance and tax colleagues on new systems and processes

    • Act as a key point of contact between Tax, Finance, and IT for technology-related projects

    • Support communication and change management initiatives related to tax technology upgrades

  • Continuous Improvement & Governance

    • Stay updated on global tax technology trends and evolving regulatory requirements

    • Contribute to broader digital tax transformation projects and initiatives across the business

    • Promote best practices and a continuous improvement culture within the tax function

Candidate Profile

  • Degree qualified in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in indirect tax technology roles, with a strong emphasis on VAT/GST systems

  • Proven hands-on experience with ERP systems (Oracle R12 preferred) and tax engine tools

  • Proficient in automation and data analysis tools such as Alteryx and Power BI

  • Strong technical understanding of global indirect tax reporting and compliance requirements

  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively across teams

Desirable:

  • Experience in multinational environments and large-scale tax technology projects

  • Exposure to cross-functional technology integrations and testing
