Are you an experienced tax professional with a strong background in private client services? A well respected Top 10 firm is seeking a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to join their expanding team in Guildford. This is an exceptional opportunity to engage with a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals, family businesses, entrepreneurs, trusts, and private equity clients, providing both UK tax compliance and advisory services.

About the Role

In this role, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of private clients, with an emphasis on tax advisory and planning, and supporting the team's growth and development. You'll work closely with senior managers, directors, and partners to deliver exceptional service, lead special projects, and foster new business opportunities. This role also offers a path to increased advisory focus over time and allows for collaboration with tax specialists nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary client contact, managing and advising on all tax matters while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Oversee project delivery for your portfolio, ensuring high-quality service and adherence to timelines.
  • Provide clear, practical solutions on complex tax issues, and stay proactive in identifying tax planning opportunities.
  • Supervise and review work from junior team members, offering guidance and feedback.
  • Maintain billing and cash collection efficiency for your portfolio and liaise with HMRC.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and contribute to proposals for new client work.
  • Support the recruitment, training, and professional development of junior staff.
  • Represent the firm at client meetings and contribute to internal training sessions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • CTA/ACA qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven post-qualification experience in private client tax.
  • Strong technical expertise and the ability to convey complex tax matters simply.
  • Leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • Commercial awareness with a client-focused approach.
