Senior Indirect Tax Manager

£110,000 - 120,000 + bonus & benefits

An expanding insurance group will be appointing a Senior Manager to lead on indirect taxes for the UK and European entities. Reporting to the Head of Tax and supervising and number of junior employees with a varied tax focus, this position is purposed to engage and provide expert advice across the international business. Accountabilities will include tax business partnering, tax risk management, BAU/tactical initiatives, tax calculations/reporting and team management:

  • Managing UK&I and international VAT returns
  • Oversight of IPT returns
  • Business partnering with internal stakeholders and external advisers, managing outsourced relations for indirect tax matters
  • Business partnering to support on commercial and strategic projects, analysing tax implications as relevant to VAT and IPT
  • Overseeing and optimising internal control frameworks for the relevant taxes to ensure ongoing compliance with the tax strategy
  • Proactively identifying room for process improvements, including the incorporation of tax technology tools where available and providing indirect tax related training to wider areas of the business where relevant
  • Supporting tax, finance and wider teams with business transformation initiatives that enhance processes as related to tax
  • Keeping abreast of both business and legislative developments as relevant to indirect taxes

The successful candidate

  • ACA/CTA qualification
  • Demonstrable VAT expertise (compliance and advisory) within the financial services context, managing and negotiating PESMs
  • Experience with managing VAT controls and optimising indirect tax processes
  • Experience in IPT advantageous but not a pre-requisite
  • The right to work in the UK is required for this post
