Tax Business Partner, Financial Services

Role Description

As the Tax Business Partner, Senior Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing the tax function for the clients in the Financial Services sector. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and optimise tax strategies, in a quasi-in house role. This is a high-impact role that requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen.

You will work with colleagues around the world within this large consulting and professional services firm, to support FS sector clients, as an extension of their Tax or Finance team.

On larger engagements, you may lead a Business Partnering team covering a range of taxes and, effectively, play the role of an in-house Tax team member or even the Head of Tax.


  • Tax Strategy and Planning:

    • Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with business objectives.
    • Provide expert advice on complex tax matters related to financial services.
    • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Stakeholder Management:

    • Partner with senior executives, finance teams, and legal departments to drive tax initiatives.
    • Build strong relationships with external tax advisors and regulatory authorities.
  • Compliance and Reporting:

    • Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance, including VAT, corporate tax, and transfer pricing.
    • Prepare and review tax returns, financial statements, and disclosures.
    • Manage tax audits and inquiries.
  • Risk Management:

    • Identify and mitigate tax risks.
    • Implement controls to safeguard against non-compliance.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals.
    • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.


  • Professional Qualification: Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA) or Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant tax experience within financial services.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial products, investment funds, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
