THE CLIENT

VolkerWessels is a privately-owned European construction services business with Dutch-based headquarters. They pride themselves in delivering innovative solutions across the civil engineering and construction sectors.

THE CHALLENGE

Omaar Jiwani is the Head of Tax within the tax team based in Hertfordshire. The team found that they were in need of an Employment Tax Advisor. The overall objective of the role is to support the tax compliance for the VolkerWessels UK Group, working with other members of the tax team covering all aspects of tax and with a specific focus on Employment Tax compliance, in particular, the PSA.

OUR SOLUTION

A call was arranged between myself and Omaar so I could understand the business needs. The purpose of the call was to not only understand requirements such as technical ability and experience, but also personality and attributes which would fit in culturally. The team needed an enthusiastic and collaborative tax professional who was skilled in employment tax however also had the drive and ambition to pick up the other aspects of the role. We then used our own select network of passive candidates as well as the identification of new candidates to find the right fit. After meeting with the candidates personally and confirming they were right, two CV’s were sent across to VolkerWessels.

THE RESULT

After a round of 2 stage interviews, we were able to place the correct candidate with them to start the following month.
