We spoke to Claire about what she looks for in people joining the Pro-NFP Team. Read more below!
What does the NFP team at Pro do?
We operate across the whole of the Charity, Not-for-Profit and Third Sector, recruiting at all levels from fundraising assistants in niche charities through to Director and CEO roles in international Not-For-Profit organisations. We recruit across permanent, contract/interim and temporary roles in finance, marketing, HR, operations and fundraising.
We take an honest and open approach to all organisations, and Charity and Not-for-Profit professionals, to build open, transparent and long-lasting relationships with everyone we work with. In addition, several members of our team are active volunteers and fundraisers themselves in their spare time.
Why the NFP team at Pro?
Our team has many years of experience and have built up a strong network of contacts within their specialist areas. We use a range of techniques to attract the best talent including search, networking, a range of job boards and social media and marketing campaigns. Pro-Group is proud to have established long-standing relationships with a wide range of charities and third sector organisations across the UK.
The main benefit of working with Charity or Not-for-Profit organisations is fulfilment. Many careers pay a good salary, but it’s unlikely that employees go home at night feeling that they’ve made a positive impact on the world around them. Working within a Charity or Not-for-Profit company would provide you with just that feeling – and that's a boost that should have you motivated to get to work in the morning. Most charities offer a huge variety of job opportunities so, whatever your chosen career, working within this area should provide you with valuable skills that you can call upon when you come to look for subsequent roles.
As an SME, the management structure is flat which is very different to what I am used to having worked for larger organisations, but I see this as a massive benefit. Your voice is heard, listened to and the owners sit on the floor with you. I have also seen massive and progressive changes in Pro in my few years with the company - most recently we have moved to the most fabulous offices with wonderful views of St. Paul’s. If I need a new job-board - no problem as long as I can show a business case for it. Want to set up a new division? Again no problem, just present a business case and you will be backed. No red tape or layers of management to convince. If you have a vision and plan, it will be backed.
Our NFP team are a diverse lot and we are all very different in every way but share common values such as drive, determination, honesty, an incredible work ethic and humour. We work really hard, but laugh a lot along the way. Our NFP team motto is ‘work hard, laugh hard’ and we do both every single minute of the day. I think of my Pro team as my work family. It just works and we all genuinely care about each other, celebrate each other's success and support each other in tough times. All our team specialise in their own markets within the NFP sector but also enjoy dual desks and a healthy temp book. As we all have our different sectors within the NFP brand we cross-sell a lot, which is a massive benefit and we all get so excited when we share clients and candidates! We are all accountable both as individuals and as a team but do not need telling. We know and care passionately about doing our bit for our team as well as ourselves.
What do I look for in a recruiter?
If you can sell and influence, have a great work ethic and determination and love recruitment, you will love Pro. NFP is an exciting sector (also it’s the only sector that grew in the last recession) and you can make a real difference to a range of causes as well as your own life.
If you are experienced, you will enjoy a grown up and supportive culture and be given all you need to succeed. If you have no experience, you will be offered an industry leading and structured training plan with both internal and external trainers, which is ongoing and gives you all the skills and knowledge you need to be successful. We also have a structured career plan with clear targets and expectations to progress to the next level.
My promise to you, should you join our NFP team
The rewards are amazing and after nearly 25 years in the industry, I really believe are unrivalled. You have to bill (this is a sales role where your performance and revenue are the only important metric) but if you do you will earn up to 40% commission uncapped on your personal revenue, our top billers go on a luxurious ski trip annually, there is an incentive for the top team to go on an all expenses paid trip to Paris, as well as our quarterly ‘premier Club’ where top performers go to Michelin starred and exclusive restaurants. In addition, we offer flexi-time, dress for your diary, a mortgage fund, fruit in the office and a whole lot of other benefits. This is life-changing stuff where you will reap the benefits of your success and genuinely enjoy coming to the office.
I would love to hear from you if you are experienced and looking for a move or are looking to join the exciting world of recruitment. You will not regret it. Recruitment is a great industry where you can enjoy a lot of personal financial and non-financial rewards and no day is ever the same. It’s not an easy job and not for everyone, but it is an exciting job in a unique team and company!
