THE CLIENT
Avis Budget Group is the American parent company of car rentals businesses such as Avis, and is a leading vehicle rental operator in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and certain other regions it serves. Avis Budget Group and its licensees operate the Avis and Budget brands in approximately 180 countries throughout the world.
THE CHALLENGE
The former incumbent of the role of Assistant Tax Manager had made their first move into practice to ABG and as they had moved on to pursue a new challenge a replacement was needed in a similar mold. Despite the size and the allure to work for a business like ABG their EMEA headquarters are based in Bracknell which means a relevant candidate talent pool would be very scarce.
OUR SOLUTION
Having discussed with both the line manager and liaising closely with the talent acquisition team, I was able to communicate the struggles a business would have to recruit in such a small talent pool. This is something the talent acquisition team had found when recruiting for the role directly without the use of a tax specialist and the market knowledge that will provide. Therefore we came to the conclusion that given the length of time and resources spent recruiting directly by ABG already if a candidate with relevant tax experience who may not be from a similar background to the former incumbent but is local should be considered.
THE RESULT
Having searched relentlessly for relevant tax candidates in the local area, 2 candidates stuck out with experience relevant to the role and would be called to interview. The successful candidate came through our advertising campaign for ABG where it highlighted both why ABG is a great place to work and the benefits of working in its EMEA tax team. From CV’s sent to offer acceptance, it took less than 3 weeks in total leaving both candidate and client happy with the overall process.
