Audit Manager
Kettering | £52,000 - £65,000
You've qualified. You've led audits. You've reviewed the files. Now you want a bit more ownership.
This is an opportunity to step into an Audit Manager role where you'll actually manage the client relationship, develop your own team and work directly with Partners, rather than spending your week simply chasing audit deadlines.
Joining an established accountancy practice in Kettering, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of corporate clients and have plenty of scope to shape how work is delivered.
What will you actually be doing?
You'll be trusted to run your portfolio and your team, including:
- Leading audits from planning through to completion
- Reviewing and finalising audit files and statutory accounts
- Becoming the main day-to-day contact for your clients
- Managing, coaching and developing junior members of the team
- Working directly with Partners on more complex assignments
- Managing workflow, WIP, budgets and deadlines
- Spotting opportunities where the firm can provide additional support to clients
- Getting involved in advisory and value-added projects beyond the annual audit
- Contributing to business development and the continued growth of the department
There's variety here too. While audit is at the heart of the position, you'll gain exposure to accounts, corporate tax and outsourcing work, giving you a much broader relationship with your clients.
Who are they looking for?
You'll need to be ACA or ACCA qualified with solid UK accountancy practice experience.
Ideally, you'll also have:
- At least 2 years' post-qualified experience
- Experience managing audits and reviewing files
- Strong accounts preparation knowledge
- Experience supervising and developing staff
- Confidence dealing directly with clients
- Enough commercial awareness to recognise opportunities beyond the immediate assignment
Experience with charities or academies would be useful, but it isn't essential.
What makes this one different?
This isn't a role where the end goal is simply getting another audit file signed off.
You'll have genuine responsibility for your clients, visibility with the Partners and the opportunity to develop the people working underneath you. You'll also be encouraged to get involved commercially, build relationships and contribute ideas about how the department operates.
For someone who has already proved themselves technically and now wants greater ownership, influence and progression, there's plenty here to get stuck into.
Salary: £52,000 - £65,000 depending on experience.
