London

I'm working with a leading challenger accountancy firm that is looking to appoint an Audit Manager into its growing London audit team.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Audit Manager, or a strong Assistant Manager ready to step up, who wants exposure to complex commercial clients and a broader range of work than a standard audit portfolio.

The team works with a wide range of businesses, including listed companies, large multinational private businesses and owner-managed clients across a multitude of client sectors.

The Role

You will manage a portfolio of commercial audit clients, leading audits from planning through to completion and working closely with Partners on audit opinion, technical issues and client service.

Alongside core audit work, there is also the opportunity to get involved in project and special work such as IPO reporting accountant assignments, due diligence, litigation support and fraud investigation.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of commercial audit clients
  • Leading all stages of the audit process
  • Advising Partners on audit opinion and key technical matters
  • Identifying accounting and financial reporting issues and recommending solutions
  • Advising clients on financial reporting matters, involving specialists where required
  • Managing audit teams and reviewing their work
  • Building strong client relationships and identifying further opportunities
  • Supporting business development activity, including networking and marketing initiatives
  • Mentoring, appraising and developing junior team members
  • Supporting the wider running of the division, including resourcing, recruitment and staff development

What They're Looking For

The firm is keen to speak with audit professionals who have strong commercial audit experience and the confidence to manage client relationships, teams and deadlines.

You will ideally have:

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification
  • Audit-based accountancy training
  • Strong external audit experience gained within practice
  • At least 2-3 years' post-qualified experience
  • Experience managing a portfolio of clients
  • Good knowledge of IFRS and FRS 102
  • Listed audit experience would be beneficial, but is not essential
  • Strong client management and communication skills
  • The ability to identify technical issues and provide practical solutions
  • Confidence managing, coaching and developing junior staff

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing London audit team with a genuinely varied client base and strong reputation for complex, high-quality work.

The role offers exposure to more complex audit assignments, listed businesses, international groups and interesting project work, while still providing the feel of a collaborative challenger firm with clear progression and access to a global network.

The package includes:

  • £70,000-£85,000 + bonus + benefits
  • Exposure to listed, international and large private businesses
  • Varied commercial audit portfolio
  • Opportunity to support IPO, due diligence and special project work
  • Strong progression prospects in a growing team
  • Access to an international network across 150 countries

This would suit an experienced Audit Manager looking for a stronger platform, or a high-performing Assistant Manager ready to step up into a Manager role with more complex clients, better variety and genuine long-term progression.
