I'm working with a Top 15 accountancy and advisory firm to recruit an Assistant Tax Manager into their growing Birmingham tax team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a strong Tax Senior looking to step into management, or an existing Assistant Manager seeking broader exposure, increased client ownership, and a genuine path for progression.
The Opportunity
Joining an expanding tax team, you'll work across a varied portfolio of clients, supporting both compliance and advisory matters while developing your technical and client management skills.
The role offers exposure to a mix of personal and corporate tax work, alongside opportunities to get involved in planning projects, client advisory assignments, and more complex tax matters as your experience develops.
You'll work closely with senior tax professionals while building your own client relationships and taking increasing responsibility for service delivery.

The Role
As Assistant Tax Manager, you'll support the delivery of both compliance and advisory services while managing your own portfolio of clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a portfolio of personal and/or corporate tax clients
- Reviewing tax returns and ensuring work is completed to a high standard
- Supporting junior team members with technical queries and development
- Assisting with advisory projects including restructures, succession planning, and tax planning assignments
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Acting as a key point of contact for client queries
- Supporting senior management on complex tax matters and specialist projects
- Identifying opportunities to add value and introduce additional services
- Working closely with wider service lines to provide a joined-up client experience
What You'll Need
- ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualified (or part-qualified and nearing completion)
- Strong tax experience gained within an accountancy practice environment
- Exposure to personal and/or corporate tax compliance
- Previous experience reviewing work and supporting junior staff
- Good understanding of UK tax legislation and compliance processes
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Commercial awareness and an interest in developing advisory expertise
- Ambition to progress within a growing tax team
