Personal Tax Manager
Witney
£55,000 - £60,000

A well-established independent accountancy firm in Witney is looking to strengthen its private client tax team with the appointment of a Personal Tax Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who enjoys building long-term client relationships and wants exposure to a genuinely broad range of private client work within a supportive and flexible environment.

The role offers a mix of compliance management and advisory involvement, with work spanning HNW individuals, trusts, estates, inheritance tax planning, CGT and international matters.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of your own client portfolio whilst working closely with highly experienced senior tax professionals on more complex planning and advisory projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of private clients
  • Reviewing self-assessment tax returns
  • Advising clients on personal tax planning matters
  • Capital gains tax and inheritance tax work
  • Trust and estate tax matters
  • Supporting with probate-related tax work
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Liaising with solicitors and other professional advisers
  • Assisting junior members of the team where required

About the Firm

This is a collaborative and personable firm with a strong reputation across Oxfordshire. The culture is relaxed and adult-to-adult, with people trusted to manage their workload independently rather than being heavily micromanaged.

The tax team handles a high-quality and varied client base, and there is strong technical support internally for somebody wanting to further develop advisory experience over time.

Hybrid working is fully embedded, and the firm is also open-minded around flexible and part-time arrangements.

About You

The firm is flexible on qualifications and would consider ATT, CTA or qualified by experience candidates.
You will ideally have:

  • Solid personal tax experience gained within practice
  • Experience managing your own portfolio
  • Strong compliance knowledge
  • Some exposure to advisory/project work
  • Good communication and client-facing skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively

Previous exposure to trusts, estates or probate work would be advantageous, although not essential.

What's on Offer

  • £55,000 - £60,000 salary depending on experience
  • Hybrid working (2 days WFH)
  • 5 weeks holiday
  • Summer early-finish Fridays
  • Genuine flexibility around working arrangements
  • Broad and interesting private client work
  • Long-term progression potential within the team
