An established and highly regarded independent accountancy firm in Oxfordshire is looking to recruit a Personal Tax Senior to join its growing private client tax team.
This is a genuinely varied private client role offering a mix of compliance and advisory exposure, with clients ranging from owner-managed businesses and high net worth individuals through to trusts and estates.
The firm has built a strong reputation locally and offers a more relaxed, collaborative environment than many larger practices, whilst still providing excellent quality work and long-term progression opportunities.
The Role
You will work closely with senior members of the tax team on a varied portfolio of private clients, managing compliance work whilst also gaining increasing exposure to advisory projects.
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of personal tax clients
- Preparing and reviewing self-assessment tax returns
- Capital gains tax work
- Rental property taxation
- Trust and estate tax work
- Assisting with inheritance tax and estate planning matters
- Supporting on ad hoc advisory projects
- Liaising directly with clients and professional contacts
- Supporting junior staff where appropriate
The Firm
The tax team is led by highly experienced private client specialists with strong expertise across trusts, estates, probate and tax planning work. The environment is supportive but independent, with people trusted to manage their own workload without excessive micromanagement.
The firm offers hybrid working, flexibility around hours where needed, and a strong work-life balance culture.
The Candidate
The firm is open-minded on background and qualifications. The successful candidate could be ATT/CTA qualified, qualified by experience, or part-qualified with strong practical exposure.
They are ideally looking for somebody with:
- Previous experience within personal tax in an accountancy practice
- Strong compliance knowledge
- The ability to manage work independently
- Good communication and client-facing skills
- An interest in broader advisory work
Experience with trusts, estates or probate work would be beneficial but is not essential.
Benefits
- Hybrid working (2 days WFH)
- 5 weeks holiday
- Early finish Fridays during the summer
- Genuine flexibility around working patterns
- Strong long-term progression opportunities
- Broad and interesting private client work
If you are an experienced Personal Tax Senior looking for a broader and more interesting private client role within a supportive independent firm, we would be very interested in speaking with you confidentially.
