Private Client Tax Adviser

Fully Remote | Full-Time or Part-Time | Up to £45,000 FTE

Private client tax work without the commute, rigid office hours or corporate machine.

This is an opportunity to join a specialist private client tax practice established in 2008, advising individuals, families, trusts and estates across the UK.

The role can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis, with a minimum commitment of approximately 20 hours per week. It is fully remote, with flexibility around how your working hours are structured.

The role

You will work across a varied portfolio of private client tax matters, covering both compliance and advisory work.
Your responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing and reviewing Self Assessment Tax Returns
  • Managing personal tax compliance for individuals and high-net-worth clients
  • Preparing Trust and Estate Tax Returns
  • Preparing Estate Accounts for executors and personal representatives
  • Preparing IHT400 Inheritance Tax Returns and associated schedules
  • Advising on inheritance tax, estate planning and succession matters
  • Dealing with capital gains tax, including property disposals and family transactions
  • Assisting with trust taxation and administration
  • Supporting executors, solicitors and families throughout the estate administration process
  • Advising on foreign income and internationally connected individuals
  • Preparing EIS and SEIS claims
  • Liaising with HMRC
  • Building long-term relationships with clients and professional advisers

The firm is experiencing growth in its estate administration work, so experience preparing Estate Accounts and IHT400s would be particularly valuable.

About you

You will be an experienced private client tax professional with a good grounding in UK personal taxation. You may currently be working in an accountancy practice, specialist tax team or private client solicitors' firm.
Experience in some of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Personal tax compliance
  • High-net-worth individuals
  • Trust taxation
  • Estate administration
  • Estate Accounts
  • IHT400s
  • Inheritance tax and succession planning
  • Capital gains tax
  • EIS and SEIS
  • Working directly with clients and professional advisers

You do not need experience in every area listed, but you will need to be technically capable, organised and comfortable managing your own workload.

As the role is fully remote, you must be able to work independently and deliver high-quality work without requiring close day-to-day supervision. You should be comfortable working towards agreed deadlines, managing several assignments at once and communicating confidently with clients, solicitors, accountants and financial advisers.

ATT, CTA or STEP/TEP qualifications would be welcomed, although relevant practical experience will also be considered.

What's on offer?

  • Full-time or part-time working
  • Minimum approximately 20 hours per week
  • Fully remote working
  • Flexible working hours
  • Up to £45,000 FTE, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Potential for future salary progression
  • Varied and technically interesting private client tax work
  • Direct client contact and responsibility
  • The opportunity to work closely with solicitors, accountants and financial advisers
  • Senior technical support when required
  • The chance to become an important part of a growing specialist practice

If you are looking for greater flexibility without giving up interesting work, technical variety or meaningful client relationships, this could be an excellent opportunity.
