£30,000 - £38,000 + Study Support | London | Hybrid
I'm partnering with a well-established multi-national private client tax practice to recruit a Private Client Tax Assistant / Semi-Senior for their London office. This is a genuine opportunity to join a highly supportive, people-centric firm with exceptional staff retention (many team members have 10-20+ years' tenure) and a reputation for long-term career development.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Standout client base: Professional sportspeople (golfers, tennis players, cyclists), actors, entertainers, and high-net-worth individuals
- Variety and exposure: No pigeon-holing - encouraged to build broader experience and carve out your own technical niche
- Strong training culture: Full ATT study support via Tolley's, monthly line-manager catch-ups, and progression based on readiness (not rigid timelines)
- Genuinely supportive environment: "The nicest practice I've ever worked for" - feedback from 20-year team member (ex-Big 4)
- Sociable culture: Monthly socials, payday lunches, Friday takeaways, birthday celebrations, January tax-season party

Responsibilities:
- Prepare UK self-assessment tax returns for diverse client portfolio

- Attend client meetings and complete meeting notes
- Prepare basic tax calculations and estimates
- Maintain online HMRC accounts and prepare forms for submission

- Work collaboratively with Assistant Managers, Managers, and Senior Managers
Client Base Includes:
- Professional golfers, tennis players, and cyclists

- High-net-worth individuals
- Some dual UK/US tax clients (training provided)
What You'll Need
- Previous experience in UK private client / personal tax (practice background preferred)
- Studying towards or interested in studying ATT (full support provided) or qualified
- Keen to learn, progress, and develop in a specialist private client environment
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a sociable, professional team
- Strong client service mindset and attention to detail
What's On Offer
Salary & Benefits:
- £30,000 - £38,000 depending on experience
- Full ATT study support via Tolley's (course fees, revision courses, study leave for each exam)
Working Pattern:
- Hybrid (typically 3 days in the office)
- Predominantly office-based for development and collaboration
- One core day per week where the full team is present for client meetings
- Software: CCH
Culture & Development:
- Monthly line-manager catch-ups with clear goals aligned to next-level job specs
- Annual reviews
- Progression based on readiness, not rigid timelines
- Deep technical support and collaborative knowledge-sharing
- Genuinely family-feel environment with strong retention
Interview Process
- Stage 1: Virtual interview (relaxed, conversational - CV walkthrough, reasons for leaving, career motivations, cultural fit)
- Stage 2: In-person interview at London office (more technical discussion)
Why Join Now
This firm offers something rare: genuine variety, interesting clients, and a workplace where people stay long-term because they're valued, supported, and developed.
