Private Client Tax Assistant Manager - London

Up to £60,000 | Boutique Tax Advisory Firm | 2 Days in the City

Looking for interesting private client work, genuine flexibility and a better work-life balance?

I'm working with a highly regarded boutique tax advisory firm in the City of London that's looking to appoint a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager to its growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Private Client Tax Senior ready to take the next step, or an existing Assistant Manager looking for greater autonomy, more exposure to complex advisory work and a genuinely supportive working environment.

You'll join an established, independent practice with around 60 people overall, combining the quality of work you'd expect from a larger firm with the flexibility, personal approach and relaxed culture of a boutique.

The Opportunity

  • Manage your own portfolio of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth private clients, including internationally mobile individuals, entrepreneurs and private equity professionals

  • Prepare and review complex UK personal tax returns and self-assessment computations

  • Gain exposure to interesting international private client advisory work, including non-dom matters, expatriate taxation and cross-border planning

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and providing practical tax advice

  • Work closely with experienced senior tax professionals on complex client matters

  • Review work and support the development of junior team members

  • Take ownership of your portfolio, with the autonomy to manage your clients and workload

What We're Looking For

  • ATT qualified, ideally studying towards CTA or recently CTA qualified

  • 3+ years' experience in UK Private Client Tax within an accountancy or specialist tax practice

  • Strong experience preparing complex personal tax returns

  • Some exposure to reviewing work and supervising junior colleagues

  • An interest in developing your advisory experience, particularly with international private clients

  • Confident communication skills and the ability to build strong client relationships

  • A proactive, personable approach and the ability to work independently

You don't need to be an established Assistant Manager already. If you're a strong Private Client Tax Senior looking for more responsibility and a clear next step, we'd love to hear from you.

Why Consider This Firm?

  • Salary up to £65,000, depending on experience

  • Just 2 days in the City office, with genuine flexibility around working from home

  • Boutique, independent practice with around 60 professionals overall

  • High-quality HNW and UHNW clients, including entrepreneurs, expatriates and internationally mobile individuals

  • Excellent compliance and advisory mix, with opportunities to develop your international tax expertise

  • Relaxed, friendly culture where people are trusted to manage their own workload

  • Direct access to senior leadership and experienced tax specialists

  • Autonomy and responsibility from an early stage, with your own client portfolio

  • Supportive team environment with a strong emphasis on collaboration and personal development

  • Clear career progression within an established, growing specialist practice

  • Low staff turnover and a genuinely people-focused approach

Interested?

If you're working in Private Client Tax and looking for a boutique environment offering interesting clients, greater flexibility and the opportunity to develop your career without the bureaucracy of a larger firm, I'd love to have a confidential chat.
