R&D Tax Manager - Bristol

We're working with a leading national firm that is looking to strengthen its growing Innovation Tax team with an R&D Tax Manager.

The team provides specialist R&D and Patent Box advice to an impressive and diverse client base, from innovative start-ups and privately owned businesses through to major multinational groups. You'll work alongside sector specialists across the firm, gaining exposure to a broad range of industries and technically complex R&D tax matters.

The Opportunity

As an R&D Tax Manager, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of clients, delivering high-quality technical advice while playing an important role in the continued growth of the practice.

You'll be responsible for:

• Managing a varied portfolio of R&D tax clients, overseeing engagements from initial take-on through to delivery.
• Providing technically strong R&D tax and Patent Box advice and translating complex legislation into clear, commercial solutions.
• Building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and acting as a key point of contact.
• Identifying and developing opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
• Working closely with specialists across the firm to deliver joined-up advice.
• Reviewing work and coaching, mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
• Supporting the growth and development of the Innovation Tax offering.
• Driving improvements in processes, technology and service delivery.
• Taking responsibility for project delivery, quality, risk management and commercial performance.

About You

We're looking for an experienced R&D tax professional who combines strong technical expertise with a commercial and client-focused approach. You'll ideally have:

• Significant experience in R&D Tax within an accountancy or professional services environment.
• Strong and up-to-date knowledge of R&D tax legislation, with the ability to advise on complex issues.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients and leading R&D tax engagements.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence dealing with senior stakeholders.
• A proven ability to identify business development opportunities and contribute to winning new work.
• Experience supervising, coaching and developing more junior team members.
• ACA, CTA or equivalent qualification is desirable, alongside relevant R&D tax experience.
