Real Estate Tax Director

London / UK | Senior Leadership Opportunity

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Real Estate Tax professional to join a growing, independent tax advisory business and play a key role in shaping its future.

The business provides specialist tax advice to large and multinational organisations, combining senior-level expertise, entrepreneurial thinking and a modern, technology-enabled approach to client service.

With a focus on high-quality advice, collaboration and commercial impact, this is an opportunity to step beyond the traditional advisory model and help build a growing practice with the autonomy to make a genuine difference.

The Opportunity

As a Real Estate Tax Director, you will lead major client relationships and complex real estate tax engagements, working with significant property businesses, institutional investors and multinational real estate groups.

You will act as a senior technical adviser, providing practical and commercially focused guidance on complex property tax matters while working directly with senior stakeholders, including CFOs and Tax Directors.

Alongside leading client engagements, you will have the opportunity to develop your market profile, win new business and help shape the future direction of the Real Estate Tax offering.

The role also offers collaboration with specialists across indirect tax and international markets, providing access to broader expertise and opportunities to advise on complex, cross-border real estate projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead major real estate tax engagements for large and multinational property businesses and investors.

  • Act as a senior technical authority, reviewing and resolving complex real estate tax issues.

  • Build and develop relationships with key clients, including CFOs, Tax Directors and senior property-sector stakeholders.

  • Advise on a broad range of real estate tax matters, with particular scope across Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT), capital allowances, REIT structuring, and cross-border real estate fund and joint venture structuring.

  • Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships, develop new business and strengthen your network across the real estate market.

  • Lead proposals and pitches, contributing to winning new client engagements.

  • Take ownership of portfolio management, including resource planning, utilisation and recovery.

  • Collaborate with international colleagues on cross-border real estate projects and work closely with indirect tax specialists on VAT matters affecting clients.

  • Coach and develop Senior Managers, supporting their progression and building succession plans within the team.

  • Champion the use of AI and digital tools to improve the efficiency and quality of client delivery.

  • Contribute to the wider strategic direction of the business, with the potential to lead the Real Estate Tax service line, sector or region.

What We're Looking For

We are keen to speak with experienced Real Estate Tax professionals who combine deep technical expertise with commercial awareness, strong client relationships and the ambition to help grow a business.

You will ideally have:

  • CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA or another relevant professional qualification - or equivalent experience.

  • Extensive experience in real estate tax, gained within professional services or industry.

  • Strong technical expertise in SDLT, capital allowances and real estate structuring, with a track record of resolving complex matters.

  • The ability to translate technical tax issues into clear, practical and commercially relevant advice for senior stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting to CFOs, Tax Directors and other senior client contacts.

  • Experience leading significant client relationships and contributing to business development.

  • A track record of developing and coaching Senior Managers and supporting the growth of high-performing teams.

  • A commercially minded approach, with the ability to identify opportunities and build long-term client relationships.

  • A collaborative and credible leadership style, with the desire to influence the development of a growing practice.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a modern, high-growth tax advisory business where experienced professionals can have a genuine impact on clients, colleagues and the future direction of the firm.

You'll benefit from:

  • A conflict-free, pure advisory environment without the restrictions associated with audit.

  • The opportunity to help build and shape a growing Real Estate Tax practice.

  • Direct exposure to senior decision-makers and complex, high-profile client work.

  • Greater autonomy to develop client relationships, build your market presence and contribute to business growth.

  • A collaborative culture with less hierarchy and bureaucracy.

  • Access to international expertise and cross-border real estate tax projects.

  • The opportunity to work alongside indirect tax and other specialist teams to deliver joined-up client advice.

  • A modern, technology-enabled approach, incorporating AI and digital tools.

  • The flexibility to shape your career and potentially take on broader service-line, sector or regional leadership responsibilities.
