The Opportunity

This global firm's Private Equity Portfolio Tax team is growing rapidly in response to increased client demand. The team sits alongside its market-leading M&A and Funds Tax practices, enabling a seamless, joined-up service across the private equity investment lifecycle.

You'll work closely with CFOs, finance leaders, and management teams of PE-backed businesses, providing high-quality, pragmatic tax advice that supports them through acquisition, growth, restructuring, and eventual exit.

This is a genuinely commercial role where you'll combine technical excellence with client leadership, shaping complex tax projects and mentoring a talented team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of high-quality UK and international tax advisory services to private equity-backed portfolio companies

  • Build and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, including CFOs, Financial Controllers, and Heads of Tax

  • Oversee a diverse range of tax projects including:

    • Post-acquisition support

    • Cash tax modelling

    • Group simplification and reorganisation

    • Exit readiness planning

    • Tax due diligence and structuring advice for acquisitions and bolt-ons

    • Carve-outs, disposals and vendor assistance

    • Cross-border and international tax advice

  • Support Partners and Directors with the origination of new tax opportunities

  • Coach and develop junior team members to deliver best-in-class client service

  • Contribute to team strategy, innovation, and use of technology in tax delivery

About You

You'll be an ambitious and commercially minded Senior Tax Manager with a strong technical background and proven experience advising private equity-backed companies. You're client-focused, strategic, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Essential skills and experience:

  • ACA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification

  • Strong technical and practical understanding of UK tax advisory for PE-backed companies

  • Experience leading complex tax projects from scoping to delivery

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain senior client relationships

  • Experience managing and mentoring junior colleagues

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Exposure to cross-border transactions and international structuring

  • Experience working closely with M&A, Funds or Transaction Tax teams

  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders
