Tax Director, Insurance

City of London, hybrid working model

An insurance group undergoing a corporate restructure is seeking a hands-on Tax Director to lead a small tax team on a 6-12 month FTC basis.

Reporting to the CFO, the inbound Tax Director will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of tax compliance and tax planning with responsibility for the full spectrum of taxes. Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Managing the relationship with external tax advisors and HMRC
  • Management of all direct tax compliance obligations (including tax accounting disclosures for all entities and Lloyd's tax reporting)
  • Oversight of indirect tax affairs (IPT & VAT), managing a small team
  • Monitoring, interpreting, and managing the impact of evolving legislation impacting business UK & overseas operations
  • Providing guidance and support to the SAO
  • Management of tax related projects, transfer pricing policy development, DPT compliance, tax provisions and tax disclosures

The successful candidate

  • A proven Head of Tax with experience in the Lloyd's market
  • Solid understanding of UK & international tax frameworks
  • A corporate/international tax specialism is required, broader tax experience (VAT/IPT, employment tax) considered helpful
  • Strong accounting & reporting skills, working with both current & deferred taxes
  • ACA/CTA qualification advantageous
