Private Client Tax Manager / Senior Manager - Creative Industries

Up to £80,000 | Central London | Hybrid Working | Partnership Opportunity

Want to build and lead a tax department, rather than simply manage an existing portfolio?

I'm working with an ambitious, independent accountancy practice in Central London that's looking for a Private Client Tax Manager or Senior Manager to take ownership of its tax function and help shape the next stage of the firm's growth.

The practice has grown from just 5 to 29 people in recent years and has established an impressive client base across the music, film, fashion and entertainment industries.

With the current tax lead stepping back and demand for tax services continuing to grow, this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys technical tax work but also wants the autonomy to develop a team, build client relationships and have a genuine influence on the direction of a business.

Importantly, the firm has recently moved to an LLP structure, creating a potential route to Partnership for someone who wants to play a long-term role in its success.

The Firm & Clients

This is a growing, entrepreneurial practice with a particularly interesting client base.

You'll work with individuals and businesses across:

  • Music: Touring artists, record labels, publishers and other music industry professionals.
  • Film & Television: Production companies and businesses involved in major film projects.
  • Fashion: Agencies, photographers, brands and creative entrepreneurs.
  • Entertainment: Performers, artists and businesses operating across the wider creative sector.

Alongside this, the firm advises a broader portfolio of entrepreneurial individuals and owner-managed businesses.

The culture is collaborative, commercially minded and refreshingly entrepreneurial. It's an environment where people are encouraged to bring ideas, take initiative and make a genuine contribution.

The Opportunity

You'll take the lead on the firm's tax offering, initially overseeing a small team of two, with the opportunity to develop the department as demand continues to grow.

The role will offer a varied mix of technical tax work, client management, leadership and business development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Private Client Tax offering, with some involvement in Corporate Tax matters.
  • Advising on personal tax planning, IHT, royalties, withholding tax and other specialist matters.
  • Managing relationships with an interesting portfolio of creative and entrepreneurial clients.
  • Overseeing tax compliance and advisory work, ensuring technical quality across the team.
  • Mentoring and developing junior colleagues, with the opportunity to expand the department.
  • Identifying advisory opportunities within the existing client base.
  • Working closely with the Partners on business development, networking and the continued growth of the tax function.
  • Attending relevant industry events and building relationships across the creative sector.

There's already an established client base and demand for additional tax services, so you won't be expected to build a department from scratch.

About You

We're keen to speak to established Tax Managers and Senior Managers, as well as ambitious individuals who are ready to take on broader leadership responsibility.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • A strong background in UK Private Client Tax, with some exposure to Corporate Tax.
  • CTA qualification or significant equivalent experience (QBE).
  • A good balance of tax compliance and advisory experience.
  • Confidence managing client relationships and providing commercially focused advice.
  • Experience supervising or developing junior team members.
  • An interest in business development and growing a specialist tax offering.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach and the confidence to take ownership.

Experience within the music, entertainment or creative industries would be useful, but isn't essential.

You don't need to arrive with an existing client following. What's important is your ability to build relationships, identify opportunities and help develop the business.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

A potential route to Partnership: The firm has recently moved to an LLP structure, with opportunities for individuals who want to contribute to its long-term growth.

Genuine autonomy: Take ownership of the tax department, influence its direction and help build the team.

An established platform for growth: Join a firm that's grown from 5 to 29 people, with an existing client base and demand for additional tax services.

Interesting clients: Work with artists, musicians, film production companies, fashion businesses and creative entrepreneurs.

Business development opportunities: Build your network through industry events, existing client relationships and collaboration with the Partners.

An entrepreneurial culture: Join a firm that values initiative, commercial awareness and personality, without unnecessary layers of management.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to £80,000, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working, with flexibility at management level.
  • Central London office.
  • Opportunity to develop and grow your own team.
  • Direct access to the Partners.
  • Support for business development and industry networking.
  • Long-term career progression, including a potential route to Partnership.

Interested?

If you're a Private Client Tax Manager or Senior Manager who'd like more autonomy, an interesting client base and the opportunity to build something with genuine long-term potential, I'd love to tell you more.
