Our client is a highly regarded advisory firm working with entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, high-net-worth individuals, international families and expats across the UK, US and internationally. Its specialist US practice provides expert support to clients investing into the US and to US persons with interests in the UK and Europe, covering cross-border structuring, entity formation, tax mitigation, treaty relief and repatriation planning.
As this US/UK offering continues to expand, our client is now looking to recruit an experienced US/UK Business Tax Associate Director to play a key role in the leadership and delivery of this growing service line.
The Role
This is a senior, client-facing position combining technical delivery, team leadership and commercial input. You will lead complex US tax advisory engagements, including US inbound and outbound structuring, US expansion, treaty claims and advising entrepreneurs relocating between the UK and the US.
You will oversee the preparation and review of US business tax returns (including Forms 1120, 1120-F, 1120-S and 1065) alongside related international reporting such as Forms 5471, 8858 and 8865, ensuring high technical quality and timely delivery. You will also manage correspondence with the IRS, handling more complex or high-risk cases and providing senior-level technical input.
Working closely with the Partner, you will support the management and development of a growing team of US tax specialists. This includes mentoring and coaching junior staff, delegating work effectively, monitoring progress and maintaining the firm's strong reputation for client service.
From a commercial perspective, you will contribute to the financial performance of the group through WIP management, billing, fee proposals and cash collection. You will also play a role in business development by supporting marketing initiatives, networking and thought-leadership activity.
About You
You will have around 10 years' experience in US business taxation, ideally with exposure to UK-US cross-border work. You will hold a relevant qualification such as CPA, EA or JD and have strong technical knowledge across areas including Subpart F, GILTI, treaty relief and FIRPTA. You will be confident dealing with sophisticated clients, comfortable supervising staff, and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
In Return
You will join a collaborative and ambitious firm offering a competitive package, clear career progression and access to a high-quality international client base. To apply simply contact John at john.corfield@pro-tax.co.uk
