Lead VAT Advisory Work - Advisory-Focused Environment
We're recruiting a VAT Advisory Manager to join a specialist VAT team within a growing, UK-wide multi-practice group. You'll manage a portfolio of advisory clients, lead on complex VAT matters, and work in a genuinely flexible environment where remote working is the norm and advisory work is the priority.
What You'll Do:
- Manage a portfolio of VAT advisory clients (education, public sector, charities, housing focus)
- Deliver complex VAT advisory and planning work
- Lead on partial exemption, non-business apportionment, property transactions, grant funding VAT treatment
- Support clients through HMRC interactions and inspections
- Act as key point of contact for clients, providing practical VAT guidance
- Contribute to business development and identify advisory opportunities
- Mentor junior team members
- Develop thought leadership and client training
- Liaise across tax and audit teams on joined-up client advice
What You Need:
- 3-5 years' VAT advisory experience (ideally professional services, consultancy or in-house)
- Strong background in education and/or public sector VAT work
- CTA, ATT, or HMRC experience (or working towards qualification)
- Deep understanding of partial exemption, non-business apportionment, capital goods scheme
- Client-facing confidence and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage time and multiple deadlines
- Commercially minded with clear client focus
