Accounts Semi-Senior - Aylesbury - £30,000 to £40,000

Are you building your career in accountancy practice and ready for a role that gives you broader experience across both accounts and tax?

I'm recruiting an Accounts Semi-Senior for a growing, technology-focused accountancy practice in Aylesbury. This is a genuine general practice position, offering exposure to a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and plenty of opportunity to develop technically.

You don't need to be the finished article. If you've built a good foundation in practice and want somewhere you can continue progressing, this could be an excellent next move.

The Role

You'll work alongside experienced members of the team while gradually taking greater ownership of your own work, including:

  • Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies under FRS 102, FRS 102 Section 1A and FRS 105
  • Preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships
  • Preparing corporation tax computations and CT600 returns
  • Producing supporting working papers and schedules
  • Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries
  • Ensuring Companies House and HMRC deadlines are met
  • Supporting senior colleagues on larger assignments and ad hoc projects
  • Developing your experience across a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses

What They're Looking For

You'll ideally have:

  • At least 18 months' experience within a UK accountancy practice
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts
  • Some exposure to corporation tax
  • A working knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105
  • ACA/ACCA studies underway, although strong QBE candidates can also be considered
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • The confidence to take on increasing responsibility as your experience develops

Experience with IRIS, Xero, QuickBooks or Sage would be useful.

What's On Offer?

  • £30,000 to £40,000, depending on experience and qualification level
  • Full study support where applicable
  • Clear opportunities for progression
  • Ongoing training and professional development
  • Generous holiday allowance
  • Death in service benefit
  • Regular company social activities
  • Supportive and collaborative working environment
  • One day working from home per week after probation

This is particularly well suited to someone who has reached the point where they want to move beyond basic accounts preparation and develop into a well-rounded general practice accountant.
