Newly Qualified CTA - Tax Assistant Manager
Sector: Creative, Media & Music
Location: London
Are you newly CTA qualified (or awaiting your results) and ready to take the next step into an Assistant Manager-level role within a well-established, top accountancy practice in London?
My client is seeking a Tax Senior or Tax Assistant Manager who is looking for a role with a clear pathway to management and long-term progression.
Based in the London office and working closely with the firm's specialist Creative Industries tax team, you will support the Tax Partner and Directors while developing both your technical and advisory skill set. The team works with a high-profile client base, including household names across music, entertainment, film and TV production companies (including major streaming platforms), theatres, and video game developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of clients, primarily SMEs, with exposure to listed companies and international groups
- Advise on Creative Industry Tax Reliefs, including:
- Film Tax Relief
- Animation Tax Relief
- Video Games Tax Relief
- Theatre Tax Relief
- Work closely with artists, agents, and advisers, including advising on the UK tax treatment of royalties
- Build and manage client relationships, identifying tax planning and advisory opportunities
- Support Partners on the planning and delivery of advisory assignments
- Manage and drive the corporation tax compliance process, guiding a small but growing dedicated CT team
- Identify opportunities to enhance client relationships and deliver added value
- Assist with HMRC enquiries
- Attend client meetings and industry events
- Undertake technical research as required
Requirements
- Qualified (or awaiting results) in CTA, ACA, CA, or ACCA, with the majority of experience gained within a tax function
- Willingness to undertake further training if required (including CTA, if not already qualified)
- Experience preparing and reviewing tax notes for accounts, including group reporting
- Strong IT skills, with experience using tax software
- Demonstrable problem-solving and decision-making skills
This is an excellent opportunity for a Chartered Tax Advisor to step up into an Assistant Manager role and develop advisory-focused tax expertise within a supportive, collaborative, and flexible working environment.
