Assistant Tax Manager - R&D Tax
Location: London

Are you passionate about innovation, technology, and helping businesses access valuable tax incentives? Join a market-leading Innovation team as a Assistant Manager and play a key role in delivering exceptional client experiences across a diverse range of industries - from engineering and manufacturing to financial services, food & drink, and technology.

About the Role

This leading team, based in London, is collaborative, fast-growing, and part of a national network of innovation specialists. We advise clients on a variety of HMRC incentives, including Research & Development (R&D) tax relief, Patent Box, and if you have an interest in Capital Allowances (even better!) - all designed to reward innovation and drive investment in the UK.

You'll work closely with clients from day one, building strong relationships and supporting the end-to-end delivery of R&D and related claims. You'll also help shape the next generation of talent by mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to our inclusive and high-performing team culture.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing day-to-day client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor, handling queries and leading communications.
  • Working directly with Managers and Senior Managers to deliver high-quality projects and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Preparing detailed R&D and Patent Box reports, including technical summaries to evidence innovation and compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Supporting and developing junior staff through coaching, sharing knowledge, and providing hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Collaborating across service lines and national teams to deliver innovative, insight-driven solutions.

About You

  • Strong understanding of UK R&D tax regimes, with experience preparing both SME and RDEC claims.
  • Proven ability to liaise with clients and produce accurate, high-quality supporting documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - confident working with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills, with the ability to interpret numerical data effectively.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of an inclusive, growing team that values collaboration and professional development.
  • Gain exposure to a broad client base across multiple sectors.
  • Work alongside leading R&D, Capital Allowances, and innovation specialists within a global Big 4 network.
  • Access world-class training and genuine career progression opportunities.
