I'm working with a growing Top 20 accountancy firm that is looking to appoint an Audit & Accounts Manager into its South London team.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants a genuine leadership role rather than simply managing a portfolio and delivering jobs.

The team is looking for an experienced Manager who can take ownership of client relationships, support the development of Seniors and Juniors, and become a key figure within the office as the firm continues to grow.

The role will be approximately 60% audit and 40% accounts, working predominantly with SMEs and owner-managed businesses across a varied range of sectors.

The Role

You will manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients, lead assignments from planning through to completion and work closely with Partners on client delivery, team development and the continued growth of the office.

A major part of the role will be people leadership. The firm wants someone who enjoys developing staff, sharing knowledge and helping create a strong team around them.

Responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of SME and OMB clients

• Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion

• Reviewing audit files and accounts ahead of Partner sign-off

• Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact

• Overseeing statutory accounts preparation

• Managing budgets, deadlines, WIP and workflow

• Reviewing work prepared by Seniors and junior team members

• Coaching, mentoring and developing staff

• Supporting Seniors as they take on more responsibility

• Identifying technical issues and providing practical solutions

• Liaising closely with Partners on client and team matters

• Supporting wider business development and growth activity

What They're Looking For

The firm is keen to speak with qualified audit professionals who combine strong technical experience with excellent communication and leadership skills.

You will ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification

• Strong external audit experience gained within an accountancy practice

• Experience auditing small to medium-sized businesses

• Good statutory accounts experience

• Experience managing a client portfolio

• Strong client relationship and communication skills

• Experience managing, reviewing and developing junior staff

• Good commercial awareness

• Confidence managing deadlines, budgets and competing priorities

• A genuine interest in leadership and helping build a successful team
