Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 (DOE) + excellent benefits
Are you an ambitious R&D Tax professional looking for a role with genuine progression, autonomy and the chance to shape a growing service line?
We're partnering with a leading Top 10 firm in London that is investing in its R&D capability and looking to hire a Manager (or strong Assistant Manager stepping up) into a developing and high-potential team.
This is a standout opportunity to join a function that is evolving quickly, offering strong exposure, flexibility and the chance to make a visible impact.
The R&D Tax Manager Role:
This role sits within a growing R&D function currently aligned to Corporate Tax, with plans to develop into a standalone team.
As an R&D Tax Manager, you will work across a varied and innovative client base, leading engagements and delivering both compliance and advisory work. You will take ownership of client relationships while contributing to the growth and direction of the R&D offering.
This is a role with real scope to develop alongside the team, making it ideal for someone looking to step into more responsibility and influence.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management
* Lead client engagements and act as the primary point of contact
* Build strong, long-term client relationships
* Work closely with senior stakeholders on complex R&D projects
Compliance & Advisory
* Oversee and review R&D tax claims, ensuring compliance with HMRC guidance
* Deliver technical and financial analysis, including narratives and cost breakdowns
* Support advisory work including technical reviews, HMRC enquiries and process improvements
* Stay up to date with evolving R&D legislation and reporting requirements
Business Development & Growth
* Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and service offering
* Contribute to proposals and development of the R&D practice
* Support internal knowledge sharing and process improvement
About You:
You will be a technically strong and commercially aware R&D Tax specialist who is confident working in a developing team environment.
Ideal experience includes:
* Strong UK R&D tax experience, including claims preparation and review
* Understanding of RDEC and evolving R&D legislation
* Experience working with technical stakeholders (e.g. engineers, software teams)
* Confident client-facing skills and ability to lead conversations
* Strong organisational and project management skills
* Experience mentoring or reviewing junior work
* ACA / ACCA / CTA (or equivalent) preferred
Strong Assistant Managers ready to step up will also be considered
Why This Role Stands Out:
* Join a growing R&D function with plans to evolve into a standalone team
* Opportunity to have real influence over the direction and development of the team
* Exposure to varied, innovation-led clients across multiple sectors
* Blend of compliance and advisory work, avoiding a purely process-driven role
* Strong flexibility and work-life balance focus
* Clear progression pathway as the team expands
Culture & Environment:
* Collaborative, supportive and growth-focused culture
* Part of a wider Top 10 firm with strong tax capability
* Access to experienced leadership, including Partner-level guidance
* Flexible, hybrid working approach
* Environment that encourages learning, development and progression
Process & Package:
* Quick, streamlined interview process with fast turnaround
* Active hiring with openness to reviewing profiles promptly
* Salary typically £60k-£75k, with flexibility for strong candidates
* Competitive benefits package and flexible working options
The Opportunity:
This is an excellent opportunity to join an R&D Tax team at an exciting stage of growth. With increasing demand, evolving legislation and a clear investment in the service line, you'll have the chance to develop your career while helping to shape the future of the team.
If you're looking for an R&D Tax Manager role within a Top 10 firm that offers progression, flexibility and real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
