Tax Manager - Private Equity Portfolio Tax

You will work with some of the most recognised private equity funds and their portfolio companies across the UK and beyond.

The Opportunity

This growing Private Equity Portfolio Tax team sits alongside the firm's M&A and Funds Tax specialists, providing a comprehensive, joined-up service to PE houses and their investments. The team supports clients throughout the investment lifecycle - from acquisition and growth through to exit - delivering commercial, pragmatic tax advice across a broad range of projects.

As a Manager, you'll take ownership of day-to-day client relationships, lead on key deliverables, and gain exposure to complex, cross-border tax issues. You'll have the opportunity to strengthen your technical skills, build trusted client relationships, and progress your career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of private equity-backed clients, acting as a key point of contact

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of high-quality UK and international tax advice across the investment lifecycle

  • Support senior team members on complex transactions and advisory projects, including:

    • Post-acquisition support and integration

    • Cash tax modelling and forecasting

    • Group simplification and reorganisation

    • Exit readiness and structuring advice

    • Tax due diligence, carve-outs and vendor assistance

  • Collaborate with colleagues across M&A and Funds Tax to provide an integrated client offering

  • Contribute to the development and coaching of junior team members

  • Play an active role in business development initiatives and proposals

About You

You'll be a confident, ambitious tax professional who thrives in a commercial, client-facing role. You enjoy the variety and challenge of working with private equity-backed businesses and want to deepen your technical expertise while taking ownership of client relationships.

Essential skills and experience:

  • ACA, CTA, or equivalent qualification (or working towards)

  • Strong technical grounding in corporate or transaction tax

  • Experience advising PE-backed or large corporate clients on tax matters

  • Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Exposure to M&A or group structuring work

  • An interest in developing your career within the Private Equity sector

  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for learning
