EY is a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services. It is the 3rd largest professional services firm in the world and is one of the Big 4 auditors, along with PwC, Deloitte and KPMG.


The Private Client services team in Leeds was growing significantly and to ensure they could deliver to their client’s needs, Katherine Bullock the Partner required a Manager to join the team over the coming months. The client portfolio for this team acts for a wide range of entrepreneurs, family offices, private equity and hedge fund principals, large landed estates, high profile professional partnerships and senior executives of large listed and private businesses, therefore it was important that the successful candidate had experience working on a similar client portfolio and could hit the ground running once joining this team.


After meeting with Katherine Bullock to understand the brief in more detail, we decided to reach out to our network of tax professionals, advertise the opportunity and headhunt accordingly. Throughout this sourcing process we wanted to ensure we were working as an extension of EY and presented the opportunity appropriately to attract quality candidates in the market.


After actively approaching the market and within a few weeks after receiving the initial brief, one of the best candidates was established for the role, who at the time was working in another Big 4 environment, however they were keen to re-locate from London to Yorkshire. As a result, we managed the interview process with an initial informal conversation which progressed quickly to a formal interview process which included meeting additional members of the team. As a result of the 2nd interview, EY decided to offer the candidate the position In September 2016, Pro-Tax managed the offer process to ensure that the candidate had all the information they needed before they made a final decision. As a result, the candidate decided to accept EY’s offer and started their new role in January 2017. Finally, we continued to support both EY and the candidate by providing aftercare as part of our service, to ensure that both parties are satisfied and that their needs have been met, recently we learned that after a year working in the role. Recently we have learnt that the candidate is a STEP Private Client Awards winner and chairs the Leeds Branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. “Due to personal circumstances, I was having to look at moving jobs as well as relocating from London to Yorkshire.
