Gearhouse Broadcast Case Study

Article Background

THE CLIENT

Gearhouse Broadcast is a global market leader in television broadcast services, specialising in Equipment Rental, Equipment Sales, Outside Broadcast, Project Solutions and Systems Integration.

THE CHALLENGE

Tax Manager Michelle Deans is the sole tax contact within Gearhouse Broadcast, dealing with all tax matters across the business. As Michelle works in a part-time capacity, she want to bring in a Tax Assistant who was capable of working efficiently unsupervised in order to take care of corporate tax, employment tax and VAT compliance. The HR Manager Adam Gardner deals with recruitment at Gearhouse Broadcast and had not been seeing candidates with the desired corporate tax experience. Having made contact with Adam, it was agreed that Pro-Tax would work the role exclusively for a period of 3 weeks. Michelle Deans would be in Australia over the Christmas period and would ideally like candidates ready for interview on her return.

OUR SOLUTION

Pro-Tax met face-to-face with Gearhouse broadcast alongside a representative of Pro-Legal. This was done in order to the best possible understanding of the role, the abilities Michelle Deans required in her growing team and to offer the potential benefits of both the Pro-Finance and Pro-Legal brands. Upon meeting with Gearhouse Broadcast, we had already highlighted two candidates Pro-Tax were actively working with and secured them first round interviews. Subsequent to the meeting, we continued to source candidates, advertise for the role, extensive CV screening and unearthing each candidate’s motivation for working at Gearhouse Broadcast.

THE RESULT

Pro-Tax put four candidates forward to Gearhouse Broadcast of which three were called for first stage interview. However due to time constraints and the acceptance of another offer, only one of those candidates could be available for interview. We managed all interview arrangements including managing diaries and ensuring sufficient preparation for both candidate and client. After a two stage interview process and a direct applicant also interviewing for the role, Gearhouse Broadcast felt assured that our candidate was the best candidate for the position. As such, they offered, and the candidate accepted making a first step from practice into an industry position. As a result of cross-selling in our initial meeting, a Group Accountant role was also released to our Pro-Finance division who also consequently delivered in an efficient and timely manner.

FOLLOW UP

Feedback from both parties has been positive. The candidate is happy with securing a first role in industry and Gearhouse Broadcast have said Pro-Tax and Pro-Finance will be the first port of call for finance and tax recruitment.
