THE CLIENT

Hikma Pharmaceuticals is a multinational pharmaceutical company based in London that manufactures branded and non-branded generic and in-licensed pharmaceutical products. It was founded in Amman, Jordan in 1978 by Samih Darwazah. They list it on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.

THE CHALLENGE

Due to a series of global acquisitions Hikma were initially looking to add a Tax Manager to their tax team of three people based in their London office. After some time however it became apparent that with the breadth of work it was necessary to recruit two people into the tax team rather than one. One at manager grade to deliver tax reporting and UK corporate tax compliance and one at advisor grade to cover a broader range of direct and indirect taxes.

OUR SOLUTION

After meeting with the Global Head of Tax to discuss and fully understand the roles, we decided to move forward on an exclusive basis in order to focus our energy on both positions and we wanted to ensure we were working as an extension of the business and selling the opportunities in the right way. This enabled us to identify the right candidates for both positions, drawing up a shortlist and screening each candidate before sending CV’s of those who would be best suited for each role.

THE RESULT

After the best candidates were established for the roles managed the interview process with Hikma’s managers to ensure all candidates enjoyed the process. This included not only arranging diaries for both parties but also preparing both candidate and client before each stage of the interview process to guarantee things would go smoothly. Once the preferred candidates were identified, as we understood the expectations of both the candidates and the client, the offer process went as painlessly as the rest of the recruitment project with both candidates accepting seamlessly and still enjoying their roles to date.
