PWC Case Study

Article Background

THE CLIENT

PwC is the number one accountancy firm in the world employing over 21,000 people and 926 partners across 64 offices in the UK, Channel Islands, and the Middle East.

THE CHALLENGE

The Uxbridge tax team was searching for an individual to join them to service their corporate clients and reached out to us as a preferred supplier and due to our specialism and strong network of tax candidates. I had a great candidate with some solid tax experience and ambitious outlook, I knew she would be perfect for the team in the Uxbridge office.  However the candidate was selected for an interview for the London office just before we could confirm for Uxbridge and decided to see this process through. The Uxbridge office is well positioned to provide the benefit of being close to London but having a more regional office feel.  This was an ideal location and I knew what the office environment was like, the people and the personalities as well as technical expertise, leading back to this being the ideal choice for the candidate so I kept abreast of the situation.

OUR SOLUTION

We let the process for the London opportunity run, keeping up to date with both PwC and the candidate whilst still sourcing further suitable candidates;  pre-screened and conducted face-to-face interviews, conducting competency based interview as well as extensive CV screening and exploring in detail what the candidate's’ motivation for wanting to work at PwC was.

THE RESULT

Pro-Tax put candidates forward to PwC of which 90% were interviewed at first stage though this CV by far was of interest and looked like the best fit.  The candidate's experience was a little light in the specialism they were recruiting for in London so I, therefore, pursued the opportunity with Uxbridge as this was a wider corporate tax role, and as a regional consultant, I appreciate the importance of location for an individual and this office would be perfect for her.  After receiving the feedback from the London office, Uxbridge was still keen to meet with the candidate. Two meetings later the candidate was unsurprisingly offered the position, which she was thrilled with and accepted!

FOLLOW UP

The candidate is looking forward to joining PwC, thankful that she was still able to pursue this and has also referred people from her wider network to Pro-Tax to aid in their job search.  PwC is delighted with the outcome and we continue to work in collaboration. “I am really happy with the service provided by Pro Tax. They handled the process very professionally and always kept me updated, ensured appropriate cover when certain consultants were away and put up with my impatience.  They ensured I was fully briefed before each interview and provided feedback soon after.  They have always been made themselves available for conversations, sometimes early in the morning and in the evening.  I really appreciate the support that Pro-Tax has provided throughout the interview process and since I was given the offer. I have already recommended Pro-Tax to friends, hopefully I will not be looking for another role in the near future as I believe Pro-Tax has helped me find the right role for me.” - Candidate placed at PwC.
