THE CLIENT
Vodafone is a multinational telecommunication company and constituent of the FTSE 100. They own and operate networks in 26 countries and have partner networks in over 50 additional countries.
THE CHALLENGE
Simon Bailey is Senior Tax Manager within the group function of Vodafone’s extensive in-house tax team. There had been a resignation in Simon’s team in the shape of a Corporate Tax Advisor and was, therefore, looking for a direct replacement. With an already established relationship and having met with the business on several occasions, Pro-Tax were contacted in order to source for the suitable candidate.
OUR SOLUTION
A conference call was arranged between Pro-Tax, Simon Bailey and Magda Godlewska (Internal Recruitment) in order to run through the brief of the ideal candidate. Suitable questions were asked around technical skills, skill level and just as importantly personality and culture fit to dig down into which tax candidates would be a success with the business. A plan was put into action involving reaching out to our extensive active candidate database, mapping the market and headhunting excellent passive candidates and producing and advertising campaign.
THE RESULT
From the eight candidate shortlist that had been drawn up from Pro-Tax over the course of the week there were a number of suitable however it was just one of those candidates that ticked most if not all of the boxes required. After sending the CV they were called for an interview and subsequent 2nd interview both of which were managed successfully between ourselves and the internal recruitment team at Vodafone. The candidate was offered the position shortly after the 2ndinterview and duly accepted.
FOLLOW UP
With this successful placement, the relationship between Pro-Tax and Vodafone strengthened which allowed the Pro-Legal and Pro-Finance divisions to become preferred suppliers (Pro-Finance recruited a Group Financial Accountant shortly after). Pro-Tax followed up with the candidate by taking them out for a celebratory dinner ensuring they had made the right choice.
