R&D Tax Assistant Manager - Reading

We're working with a leading national firm that is looking to strengthen its growing Innovation Tax team with an R&D Tax Assistant Manager.

The team provides specialist R&D and Patent Box advice to an impressive and diverse client base, ranging from innovative start-ups and privately owned businesses through to major multinational groups. You'll work closely with sector specialists across the firm, gaining exposure to a broad range of industries and complex R&D tax matters.

The Opportunity

As an R&D Tax Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality R&D and Patent Box advice, while developing strong client relationships and supporting the growth of the wider team.

Your role will include:

• Managing a varied portfolio of R&D tax clients from initial engagement through to delivery.
• Advising clients on R&D tax relief and Patent Box, translating complex legislation into clear, commercial advice.
• Building strong relationships with senior client stakeholders and identifying opportunities to develop existing and new business.
• Working alongside specialists across the firm to deliver joined-up advice.
• Reviewing work and supporting, coaching and mentoring more junior team members.
• Contributing to process improvements, technology and new ways of delivering R&D tax services.
• Taking ownership of projects and supporting the continued growth of the Innovation Tax team.

About You

We're looking for an R&D tax professional with strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in innovation and technology. You'll ideally have:

• Experience working in R&D Tax within an accountancy or professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge of R&D tax legislation and the ability to deal with complex technical issues.
• Experience managing client relationships and delivering advice to senior stakeholders.
• A commercial mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities and contribute to business development.
• The ability to manage your own portfolio while supporting and developing others.
• ACA, CTA or equivalent qualification is desirable, but relevant R&D tax experience will also be considered.
