Assistant Accountant | £40,000 - £45,000 (DoE) | London - Mayfair
For one of the worlds most prestigious luxury jewellers based in the heart of Mayfair, we are recruiting an Assistant Accountant. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for processing daily banking and transactions, producing monthly financial reporting, and supporting the year-end statutory accounting duties. Reporting to the UK Managing Director, and working closely with the Senior Accounting Manager, this role presents a fantastic opportunity to work for a renowned brand, with a strong Royal and Celebrity appeal, operating across the UK, US, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Main Duties:
- Assist the Senior Accounting Manager with the preparation of year-end working papers and in the preparation of statutory financial statements
- Liaise regularly with the external Audit firm
- Responsible for monthly financial reporting including month-end accruals, prepayments and other journal entries
- Prepare the fixed asset schedule and depreciation entries and monthly inventory reconciliations
- Processing and depositing cash transactions, and monitoring vendor payables
- Liaise with Sales regarding customer payments and prepare / record deposits
- Management of the Accounts Payable processes, and timely payment of supplier invoices
- Preparation of regular bank reconciliations, and manage the credit card / expenses process
- Work closely with Salon / Retail staff, Senior Finance leadership (UK, Group, and Parent Company), Concessions Teams, and external Auditors
Person Specification:
- Educated to University standard with an AAT qualification or part-qualified ACCA / CIMA / ACA (or similar by experience)
- Strong experience working in an in-house accounting function for an SME, ideally within Luxury Retail
- Strong MS Excel skills and ideally experience with Microsoft Navision
- Professional, polite and well presented with excellent communication (verbal and written), stakeholder engagement and team working skills
- A positive, "can do" attitude with the ability to take direction as well as working with initiative and making decisions
- Ability to provide advice and support to the retail staff as needed
